IVAN MAUGER
The Flying Kiwi
The Blue Plaque
On the 11th of July 2024 Stockport Borough Council erected a blue plaque on the former home of the Mauger family at
446 Chester Road Woodford.
It is no exaggeration to say it was the tireless work of one man that achieved this phenomenal undertaking and his name is Brian Connolly, from the MaugerCampaign.co.uk
The afternoon started with a short speech from Brian, followed by Ivan's granddaughter Skye reading out messages of thanks and support from members of the Mauger family who were unable to attend.
Following the unveiling Peter Oakes read Debbie Pritchard's words of
praise and thanks for all Brian's hard work in getting
the plaque agreed and erected,
Sat on Ivan's bike is Norrie Allen with Gordon Stobbs.
There were some very famous faces there for us of a certain age, including Ken Eyre, Eric Broadbelt, Peter Collins, Les Collins and Jeremy Doncaster.
Around 50 invited guests were in attendance.
After the blue plaque was unveiled we moved into the back garden where some very welcome refreshments were provided and there was a chance for old friends to mingle and catch up.
Earlier in the day Brian along with Keith and Karen were presented
with a photograph of Ivan signed by all the Mauger family.
Debbie also had these beautiful commemorative coins made for the attendees, I was thrilled to receive one, a true keepsake.
Skye presented a coin to the householders Karen and Keith and it is only because of their generousity that this whole event could take place.

The Blue Plaque is illuminated at night.
